IR35 Regulations

Off-payroll Working in the Private Sector

New regulations come into effect on 6th April 2020 and will impact:

  • Contractors with their own limited companies (known as Personal Service Companies, or PSCs).  If the role is deemed to be “employed” (inside the scope of IR35), then they will have to be paid under an alternative pay method, such as PAYE, Umbrella, or CIS (if appropriate).
  • Customers will have to determine a policy on how to deal with contractors with PSCs.
Some customers have made the commercial decision  not to deal with PSCs and any contractors will have to be paid via the alternative methods noted above.
Other contractors will be looking at roles on a case by case basis and assessing whether roles are inside or outside scope, to assess what pay method will be required.

Caval is committed to ensuring we are fully compliant and are customers and contractors fully understand and apply the legislation properly.  Letters have gone out to our customers and we are communicating with them closely to understand and act on their policies.  Letters will shortly be going out to our contractors to explain the legislation and how this will impact them.

We have attached guides from our industry confederation, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, for customers and contractors.

If you have any queries, please feel free to contact Jane Wardell, our Associate Finance Director, or Ben Arnold, our Assistant Accountant on 0113 2031247.

Caval Ltd - New shirt sponsors of Harrogate Railway Athletic Juniors Under 8's & Under 6's FC

Caval have a history of supporting community based projects wherever possible and so when the opportunity arose to help a new Under 8’s football team in Harrogate we could not resist.

They say that grass roots football is in trouble, not from what we have seen at Harrogate Railway Athletic Juniors FC. Under the guidance of Amanda Ford-Head Coach, Adam Reed and our own Matthew Morris-Clarke they have steadily grown in numbers since forming last year with nearly 40 U8’s and U6’s attending training every Saturday morning at Station Road.

It is our pleasure to become the official shirt sponsor for the 2014-15 season, the first opposition was Knaresborough Celtic in what was a fun day for all the kids, Railway were victorious in 3 matches to Celtic’s 1 !! Well done Railway!!

We look forward to supporting the continued growth and development of Harrogate Railway !!
